Our class this week was assigned to create our own blackout poetry from some pages that we were provided from one of her books. I had never done something like this before and I really enjoyed it. Coming up with a design proved to be somewhat of a challenge seeing as I have zero artistic skills. It was still a fun experience. I decided to go with a tree as it represents things such as life and strength to me. And that is what the poem I created is about. It’s about finding the strength to overcome adversities. When my poem began to take form, I pictured a girl who got dealt a shitty hand in life yet still managed to rise above and see the beauty in life. In a way, it was my story.
She moved like a bird on the wind.
She still loved. She had a passion for life.
At the end, she wanted : Stability, Health, Nature.“
